Playing Piano

Right before Christmas, Deana and I had our first piano recital. Yes, I have started up piano again, and love it. This is Deana's first at learning, and seems to be a natural. I played for about a year and a half back when I was Deana's age, and am amazed at how much I learned and remembered! We had a big snow storm the night of the recital, so the crowd was small-which was good! Deana did EXCELLENT and played both of her songs like a pro, she is obviously good under pressure, unlike me! I know we are our own worse critic, but I was shaking like a leaf and screwed up both of my songs. I did manage to get through both of them, and keep going even after my mess up, so I guess I did OK. All in all it was fun, but I'm glad it's over, and am already dreading the next one! Justin was mad he had to work that night, but Dylan was right there to support us with his cheesey grin!

Merry Christmas!

Wow, Christmas has come and gone! I'm still amazed at how fast time goes by. It was a great Christmas at the Melchior household! The kids must have been very good this year, because boy did they get spoiled! Dylan was so excited about his train table, he didn't know what to do at first. The train Pa got for us to go around the tree was fun, even though Dylan would not let you touch it. Christmas day was busy with family and good food. The day after Christmas we headed to Washington to see my family. We flew into Portland and got a mini van (yes it was nice, but I still will never own one!) and drove up to Shelton to see my Grandpa Rice. He claims the last time I was up there was when I cut my foot, been a while huh Dodi?? We then took a ferry ride over to Seattle and stayed. The city was beautiful and it didn't rain much, and Justin was in heaven when we went to the Museum of Flight. We then drove back to Battle Ground and hung out with my mom and sisters. After that we headed back to the snow and cold of Salt Lake City, and of course the train table that was missed dearly! I wish I could say that we have great pictures of our trip, with my cool new camera, but I was smart enough to charge the battery and leave it at home. Oh well, the memories are still there! Our New Year was far from exciting, we returned home on the 31st, so our beds were more important then 2008. We were asleep by 10, man are we old!
